The Band of the Royal British Legion, Leiston has been making music out on the
east coast of Suffolk for over a hundred years.
Its current repertoire reflects its history with a wide range of music from traditional
military marches to contemporary arrangements of old classics from films, shows
and songs from the golden age of Hollywood.
We are an amateur band, recently enjoying a return to our music-making after the
pandemic and for our concert in Southwold we are looking forward to better times
ahead and well as offering a retrospective on what our Band has meant to the town
over the last hundred and fifty years or so.
The Band is looking forward to its first ever concert in the St Edmunds Hall,
Southwold and we have prepared an exciting programme of mixed music for an
autumn evening to take our audience back to the time of Gershwin and Miller as well
as some military-themed pieces which are very much in the tradition of our band.
Above all our concert represents a return to a more hopeful future after the difficult
months we have all come through and we hope to share our community spirit and
enjoyment of music with our audience.
